The Ethos and Aims of the School
Highlees is a school that values the contribution that each person makes to the school community. All children and adults are treated with respect and their views are encouraged and valued to improve the environment for all. We set high standards for each individual and aim for excellence in all we do.
At Highlees we aim to :
- Provide a purposeful environment that is friendly, welcoming, caring and safe and ensures that all our children have rich and stimulating experiences;
- Develop self-esteem and confidence of everyone and an enthusiastic and enquiring attitude towards learning;
- Show respect and consideration for each other and the environment within a well-organised school;
- Provide a carefully structured curriculum with well planned purposeful activities;
- Professionally develop the whole staff, encompassing new ideas and sharing individual learning in order to increase the range of experiences offered to the children;
- Develop a partnership with parents which encourages active involvement;
- Establish good relationships with the local community.
