Westwood and Ravensthorpe Children's Centre
The Westwood and Ravensthorpe Children’s Centre and Extended Services are managed by Family Care. The Children’s Centre is based over two school sites. These are Highlees Community Primary School and Ravensthorpe Primary School. We work in partnership with the local community to offer a range of services in the Children’s Centre and also in the local area that include family learning, parental support, health care, pre-school education, childcare and activities for children 0–13 years.
It is important to us that you, as part of the Westwood and Ravensthorpe community, know that we are here and that you can be active in using the services in the local area as well as helping to make decisions about what would benefit you as families.

Our Services
- Good quality flexible childcare through nursery, pre-school, out of school provision and registered childminders
- Information and advice on parenting that may be one to one support, practical tips, workshops or support from other parents, groups and professionals
- Play activities for parents, carers and pre-school children
- Out of School Activities for children up to 13
- Help and advice in returning to work or finding training to learn new skills (this is work we do with Jobcentre Plus)
- Help and advice on health and well being for you and your family

We are open daily from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. We are also open some Saturday mornings and have future plans to open some evenings too.
You are welcome to drop in, have a drink and find out more about what we do and what we have to offer you and your family.
There are times when being a parent can be hard. There are also times when it is rewarding. We would like to share those times with you.
We work closely and continue to develop support services with professionals in early years, schools, health and voluntary groups.
Kathy Tomlinson, Linda Minett and Sue Umanski support the Children’s Centre services and welcome any questions you may have as well as ideas.
